Introduction

: We need trees to improve soil fertility and resolve rainfall imbalance issues. Moreover, trees are needed to prevent the wildlife habitats from becoming extinct.

A G Tedros, the WHO Chief, opines that more pandemics after the Coronavirus crisis cannot be ruled out. Also, he further adds, our efforts to improve human health are futile if we fail to tackle climate change and animal welfare. So, heading the eco-friendly way is the need of the hour. Now, as part of your attempts to contribute to making the world a better place to live in, you must consider using jute products.

Of course, if you’re thinking of switching to jute bags from your plastic ones, you will calculate your costs. And you may assume that jute turns out to be costly. Yes, this estimation may be true; but only in the short run. In the long run, jute bags work out to be cheaper. Because jute bags are washable and reusable, they can be used for 2-3 years. Now, this may not be the case with plastic bags, for they are usable only once. So, do you now understand how jute bags turn out to be economical than the plastic versions?

Plus, if you’re looking for more reasons to opt for jute over plastic, then you may also be interested to know that jute bags are more robust than their plastic counterparts. In turn, you can carry more stuff in jute bags without having to bother about them tearing apart and you being stranded in the middle of the street with your fruits and vegetables all strewn on the roads.

More so, by choosing jute products over plastic, you’re contributing to reserving natural resources. Yes, this is because plastic bags are made from petroleum. And by using plastic bags, you’re driving up petroleum prices by causing a rise in demand. On the other hand, jute products do not use petroleum products, and thus, are deemed eco-friendly.

Moreover, if you’ve to choose between jute bags and cotton ones, the better option is the former. Here, jute scores over cotton because jute crops need lesser fertilizers and pesticides for growing them as compared to cotton crops. More so, jute crops can produce the same quantity of vegetable fiber as cotton crops but with lesser acreage. In the process, you can grow more crops in the available land and lower the risk of food inflation.

By choosing jute products over plastic varieties, you can reduce environmental pollution too. Because plastic does not biodegrade easily, the pile-up of plastic causes the landfills to be covered with toxic wastes. On the other hand, jute biodegrades within months and prevents the build-up of toxic, waste compounds while keeping your environment healthier.

An important benefit of using jute is also that they help to save millions of trees whilst preventing them from being trimmed down. So, in addition to jute bags, you may also want to consider using jute products when selecting handicrafts, carpets, footwear, and clothes in your bid to counter climate change.

By saving trees, we can also help to maintain Planet Earth’s ecological balance. Remember that only by protecting the existing trees and growing more trees, we can prevent soil erosion and floods. Aside from that, by preserving trees, we can reduce global warming and help to reverse climate change.

Besides, we need trees to improve soil fertility and resolve rainfall imbalance issues. Moreover, trees are needed to prevent the wildlife habitats from becoming extinct.

In all, you must understand the threat of climate change is real. And if we do not attempt to lower our carbon footprint, we are only mounting problems for our future generations. So, do your bit to save the planet by opting for eco-friendly ware.
